Lack of 'Christmas Spirit' Ends Display

Mervin Whipple, known as 'Mr. Christmas' to the people of Killingly, has decided to pull the plug on his brilliant, gigantic holiday light display. There will be no lights this year.

Ed and I used to go to Whipple's Chapel in the winter to see all the lights. It's just down the street from where we grew up. How sad that he has to stop, but I guess $19,000 per season is a bit much. Apparently he's still taking bids on the whole light collection, if you're interested. And have a quarter-million bucks or so.
