Perforated Concrete
Have you seen Hedgehog and the Moron's winning entry for Jerez,
Flamenco City? Doesn't look like much, but maybe there's something lost in translation. Looks like a big garden wall. Period. There's something going on with the material of the wall, though, that makes me think of Machado-Silvetti's
Beirut project, the one with the "orientalist" walls:
The surfaces of the Flamenco City are made of concrete in situ , which is then perforated and artificially transformed, following the traditional lines, shapes and patterns of Flamenco and Moorish ornaments: both traditions being absolutely contemporary.
How do you perforate concrete
after it's been cast?
