Continuing the theme of "mystifying moments in Shanghai," here's a fruit-stand. Half of the bunches of bananas seen hanging here are made of plastic. The others are real, honest-to-god bananas. Behind the counter, they have bananas stacked in boxes. Hence, the fake ones are not due to any banana shortage, but a deliberate (aesthetic) decision to include them. What is particularly odd is the fact that the real bananas look a lot better--richer colors, more appetizing--than the falsies.
