Ed, Taiko and I are shopping for an iPod Mini for our cousin's graduation, and we were wondering what, if anything, to engrave. (Brilliant marketing, by the way, getting customers to deface their merchandise willingly so that it loses its resale value... a lot like diamonds in that no one will want a used one.) While thinking of what to put on the iPod, and wondering what clever people have done, I found
The iPod Engraving Utility.iPod Anonymous was created on June 1, 2003. The more humorous submissions are catalogued in our gallery.
There's also
iAshamed, a gallery of terrible music, and

The more I think about it, the less sense it makes to me that people feel like it's wasting money to write silly things on their iPods. If you're really going to Think Different, engrave "Richer Than You" on it or "XXXXXXX" or "I'm listening to really awful music right now, which is still more interesting than anything you might say" (imagine holding that up in someone's face). Or something.
