Modular Homes

The Architect's Newspaper writes about shipping container architecture. Seems really old hat, doesn't it? And is anyone actually going to build one of these things for real? Personally, I'd like to slap a V8 and two axles on 'em and take a long trip around the country.

I have a vision of skyscrapers that are nothing more than structural grids with utility hookups built in. People live in shipping container apartments, which can be moved around by tractor-trailer and fitted into place by crane. Vacancies would create cool-looking open spaces in the massing...
