Erik Gunnar Asplund's Stockholm Library (built in 1929) still looks fantastic. Really, really fantastic. On either side of the grand entry ramp are "McDonald's" and "Kebab King," respectively--a sort of culinary "Clash of Civilizations"--the result being that you can't get a nice picture of the classic frontage. So ya'll will have to make do with this interior shot...
Interestingly, I realized with horror, standing in the middle of this space, that most of my favorite buildings are round. It was a depressing moment, let me tell you.
