Guerilla Concerts
If
drive-ins aren't your taste, then how about
impromptu punk concerts organized and publicized by SMS and blogs? Is it the dawning of an anti-ticket entertainment world? (No tickets, that is, except for the $200 electronic gizmo you bought.) Reminds me of something some musician once said, that record labels will eventually lose to file-sharing because musicians aren't in it for the money. I should dust off my Las Vegas thesis and see what you can do with art, projections and public space. Or even better than projections, how about actual paintings and sculptures being carried from one random place to another for public viewing? For example, what if a bunch of painters and sculptors agreed to bring some of their work to a specific car on a specific subway train, and just let people look or buy? It'd keep commuters from staring at each other despondently, at any rate.
