These interactive web maps are always fun. Picking up from one blogger's request for a blog relational map (which led me to musicplasma), BoingBoing lists TouchGraph GoogleBrowser V1.01 (requires Java). Try out "lekkerdesign.com" for hippo-esque sites.

I think the first time I saw one of these was back in 1999 or 1998. Plumb Design created the Visual Thesaurus, a gizmo so impressive it turned into its own company. I'm not sure Plumb's around anymore, and I have yet to see the Thinkmap technology do anything more than what it does (string bouncy words together)... gosh that's been a long time now, hasn't it? I hope they didn't put all their eggs into that basket.
