Vegas 4.0 beta
MGM Mirage has released a rendering of Cesar Pelli's
Project CityCenter: no theme, just glass and swooping shapes. It's like
Wynn's new place, in effect. Theming (Vegas 3.0) is over; now comes the faceless sleek hotel look. Where's the fun in that? Nowhere, that's where. Las Vegas is all grown up. Casinos are real. Saturnalia must be found elsewhere. I wonder, is this international style a hedged bet in case the real estate bubble pops? Is Wynn counting on international gamblers to keep Las Vegas running when Americans decide theyhave to take out second mortgages?
